Heading there this summer. We'll be coming up from the South (on the train) so would rather not double back to Aberdovey.

Is there any nearby hotels that don't have a minimum of 2 night stays?
All the ones linked from the website that are close to Talyllyn have this (silly) restriction.

Although its a bit of a trek away, I can recommend the Glyn Garth Guest House in Aberystwyth. Really nice owners, good breakfasts, some rooms have en-suites, others you have to use one of the shared toilets along the corridor.

Are you heading for Talyllyn Lake (as it used to be called), which is quite remote, or the Talyllyn Railway?

I imagine the latter, in which case you need to search for Tywyn.
Aberdyfi is a mere 3 miles down the line, so far more practical than Aberystwyth.

I'm a bit late coming in here so perhaps you're fixed up with somewhere now? If not and you go with the advice offered by 30907 about staying around Aberdyfi, I could highly recommend the Penhelig Arms Hotel conveniently located right next to Penhelig Halt so only a few minutes journey to/from Towyn. We have stayed here several times over the past twenty or so years, it's a lovely place with great accommodation/food in an idyllic location and they never used to place any minimum nights restrictions on bookings. It's not cheap btw, it's also very popular so it's better to book directly with them via the website or phone.
