Pizza shop leaflets pushed through your door

I'm having a good moan today and I continue by moaning about the number of ruddy Pizza / Kebab house leaflets I get pushed through my door each week. I even get 3 from the same place every week! (And when I walk past the place it's always empty) These places are spreading like the plague and you quite often see 2 or more on the same row of shops! They're all either doing very well and so can afford to print and send out thousands of leaflets every week or they're so desperate for business that this is their last shot of the cherry. Either way, they are a pain in the backside.

Rip out any names and address' of your own and jobs an gd'n.

I don't tear them up. I just put everything in the pre-paid envelope along with a note explaining that I didn't ask for any of it and they should not send any more. It seems to have worked for some of them.

What would happen if you TAPED one of these pre-paid envelopes to, say, a brick, and tried to send it back? I think someone should try it!

My son used to do pizza house deliveries...it is a simple thing just to place a note on your letterbox saying NO JUNK MAIL OR LEAFLETS PLEASE.

I have to say that it is so competitive these days that some of the coupons on the leaflets can lead to big savings. However, regrettably from what I have seen there are too many new shops opening that have no hope of getting any business. How many kebab places for example can there be in an area? One is enough!

As regards pre-paid envelopes, if you're involved with any of the preserved heritage railways, or come to that, any tourist attraction, what I do is post them a leaflet for the attraction in their pre-paid envelope.

I only ever eat take-aways when I'm out having a few beers in town so local takeaway leaflets get binned. No-one buys a donner kebab sober anyway.

I easily get eight different takeaway menus a week. I live in a tenement stair, so somebody is letting these morons into the stair to post them! Unless they're working from within.. If the horrid cooking smells I notice when entering or leaving the building are anything, I certainly won't be giving them any custom!

They are a nuisance, and the paper they must waste over a year is phenomenal. Within a 1/2 mile radius I can count 10 various takeaways, three of them have never had any custom when I've walked past, but someone is clearly bankrolling these failures otherwise they'd be shut!

A year back Edinburgh Evening News publicised a list of local establishments that failed their hygiene inspections, but were let off with paltry fines and a slap on the oven mitt; until this policy is tightened I'll be eating in! (£6.20 for a fish supper? nae chance - bag of spuds and a fillet of haddock, you can make your own breaded fish n chips for half that )

The Royal Mail can deliver up to 5 leaflets in each daily delivery they make
I caught them out a few years ago, as they posted 8 leaflets by way of two deliveries and then 6 the following day
We now only receive 3

I get indian take away leaflets, pizza leaflets and other leaflets every day and i don't particularly like it but i just put it straight into the recycling bin.

Without trying to exagerrate here I get around 5-6 a day it winds me up, I've put signs up saying 'no leaflets or junkmail' and I still get them, I now when I see someone about to post one hold the letterbox shut, or tell them I am not interested face to face it seems to do the trick but than again I think its not worth the hassle.

if you have a cat or a dog empty the contents of their litter tray or poo bag into a box, attach the pre-paid envelope and enclose a note saying "you sent me some of your s*** now have some of mine" (ok i admit it i nicked that off Lee Evans)

I have to admit the line is sometimes a dot to me. The brick ideas a good one though I might have to try that. (just as a foot note ive never tried the animal poo idea i just heardit once on a Lee Evans DVD.)

I might just try the brick thing one day, just not sure how to persuade the local sub-postmistress to let me send the thing. I don't want to get on her bad side, her shop sells the best sausages in Hertfordshire.

Other useless stuff (although not quite in brick league) might be an out-of-date telephone directory, old copies of the Comet (a free newspaper we get round here) and our now-entirely-useless video machine. Maybe a stack of the printer-test sheets that the library insist on producing with each printout (they must get through hundreds). If I'm feeling really belligerent, then our old sofa that we've been trying to get rid of for ages.

Incidentally, anyone ever tried the places advertised? I used to sometimes when I was at Uni, anything to save on cooking with an essay due, and they were usually on the bad side of mediocre. Eventually found a place that did half-decent kebabs within walking distance.

Also you know whats gone in it, I think the worst thing about these scuzzy little takeaways is that they put this big unappetising picture of some greasy kebab up on their signboard really puts me off. If you go into these innercity victorian terrace house parts, you will find whole streets of takeaways, those could be coverted to houses and actually be useful.

I sometimes though you do find some cracking chippies in unlikely areas, the one near me; good chunky chips and a decent sized bit of cod very good. A bit of advice though do not eat from Mr Cod, everytime I go to a branch be it in London or Weymouth I always get a stomach ache or actually vomit.

Now that is something that my wife does. We are members of the National Trust and their small leaflets for their individual properties fit nicely into the standard pre-paid junk mail envelopes. She is acting as a reverse-junk-mail consultant.

Actually, over the past couple of weeks we have had far more elaflets from supermarkets thna pizza shops! Asda, Tesco, Lidl and Aldi have all been pushing their leaflets through the doorm, it must be some sort of supermarket war. I am pleased that Morrison's don't seem to be involved!

We seem to get an abundance of takeaway leaflets some for takeaways that are the far side of the city and wont even deliver here. Though im partial to a pizza, it gets annoying when you come back off holiday to find your letterbox stuffed with leaflets acting as a beacon to the local thieves.
