Disappointingly, the Pisa authorities have named this new shuttle using an anglicism. Even more so, they are charging €2.70 to just go a km!

The TrenItalia site says it costs €1.10 but when you key in a fare request, it has it at €2.70, as it does on the PeopleMover site. Is this the most expensive tram ride in Europe?

You can get through trains to Florence from here. I don't know how the station looks at the airport. I've been here previously and we had a handy bus. I'm sure it didn't cost that.

You can walk from Arrivals to Centrale in 15 minutes. Done it a couple of times. It's less than a 1Km.

No-flat fare tix here in AMS are now 2,90, in Rotterdam and den Haag a more easy to cash 3€, and always the most expensive was OSLO-around 5-6 eur in NOK. About the same for just 1 1 station ride on TfL/underground for those having no oyster or bankcard etc.
This is NOT a tram-thats a litle train-like car on rails moving mostly in normal street-traffic-you brits have them in LOndon, Birmingham, Nottingham, Sheffield, Manchester etc. Brum airport used to have also a kind of same thing-as does Gatwick
A more or less similar thing is at Dusseldorf airport-but thats a ''Haengebahn''=H-Bahn, like a monorail above. probab;ly about as long. integrated fares wiuth the VRr-verbund (if you really want-single for jst the line is short distance 1,60).

So has the PeopleMover replaced the rail services or are there still Pisa Airport-Pisa Central-Florence train services?

It might be a short distance from the Airport to the city centre but if you have a lot of luggage and it's hot then it may not be a comfortable walk! Also note some Pisa hotels are 1.5 miles east from Pisa Central, which would make the Airport to hotel walk over 2 miles.

The old FS airport station closed in 2013.

I came this way to the Airport last December. The PM platforms at Centrale were all taped off and the people movers themselves had gathered a noticible layer of dust. The road route (as far as I could see from the replacement bus) didn't look particularly pedestrian friendly but I'm sure it would be walkable in 15m or less although that still leaves you a fair way from the centre.

As far as I can see EUR 2.70 is correct for the single fare and booking through tickets with Trenitalia just seems to add 2.70 to their standard prices.

Can't you still pay the paper ticket single fare on London Underground from Covent Garden to Leicester Square making for some eyewatering cost per mile?
