Picking up at Hatton Cross Tube Station

I have to pick someone up from LHR at 10pm. I have noticed when leaving the airport, the tunnels that dive under the runway are always congested, and it can take 20 mins just to get on the M4.
I am thinking of asking the traveller to meet me at Hatton Cross.
My understanding after watching a YT from a barrister is that private car parks have to give you a grace period where you can read the terms and conditions, and decide if you want to stay or not.
Does anyone know what this is for Hatton cross, and where do I collect people from?
Thank you.

Theres a layby on the road towards terminal 4 just beyond the bus station. Most people use this. The Station CP is barriered so not sure how youd get around this.

But if you are from W of Heathrow it will take you much longer to get to Hatton Cross than the central area pretty much regardless of traffic so youre not helping yourself much.

You get half an hour free in the Heathrow long term car parks anyway and your friend can get the bus there.

There are lots of red routes and clearways in the area (and cameras all over the place).

There is a lay-by, but might be full, if so,

The nearest alternative place is Steam Farm Lane, across the A4 A30
I suggest waiting in Dockwell Close, until get a phone call then picking up at Steam Farm Lane

Not unless it's changed in the last couple of days... it's all ANPR.

Not that it may change your mind, but I do drop offs / picks ups at Heathrow (Central and T5) several times a year, and the tunnels are rarely congested. Especially at 10pm, when there is essentially no ‘departures’ traffic.

The A30 is rarely badly congested between the M25 (junction 13) and Hatton Cross

Yes, But from Reading, where the OP is from its a big deviation from the M4 Heathrow spur so there'd need to be a heck of lot of traffic in the tunnel for it to be remotely worthwhile given the doubling back involved.

And there might not be much traffic on A30 but its not fast whatever the traffic is like. Theres plenty of places to stop briefly on the A4 and lots of buses from Central, that might be easiest option that isnt in the firthest possible point on the airport.
