Picking someone up at Kings Cross with mobility issues.

Hi not sure which section this fits in so feel free to move.

My partners mother was recently hospitalised whilst visiting family in Edinburgh and she has been told that when she is finally discharged she must not fly for at least a couple of months. She additionally has severe arthritis so can't walk too far. Normally she would fly with assistance pre booked with BA back to Gatwick and someone would meet her.

As she will need to come back with East Coast what assistance is available?(ideally from Haymarket but Waverley is ok)

If she came back at a weekend is there anywhere close to KX somone could park up for a bit and then come to an entrance once she rings to say she is off the train?

Unfortunately there is still a long running issue over her getting a blue badge as she is apparently not disabled enough so her husband can't use that to assist.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

There's a pick up/drop off point outside the main entrance in Pancras Road, but you can't park there and leave the vehicle. I'm not sure what the maximum stay is, as the Streetview car didn't pull in, but if it's anything like the spaces outside St Pancras it'll be 2 minutes(!) with no return in 40 minutes.

For a longer stay, you'd need to park elsewhere (it's possible to request a mobility assistance buggy from Kings Cross to the car park at St Pancras, but parking there starts at £6.10 for 20 minutes!

Depends on time of day and day of week that she is arriving. You can park for free in some side streets off Grays Inn Road after 6:30 and also on Saturday afternoons and Sundays. (Remember that this is in the congestion charge zone if on a weekday)

I would suggest getting your partner to meet her and then phone you to bring the car to the pick up point.

Where exactly is the final destination. If it's north London then a train to Stevenage might be a better option.

Biggin Hill so a bit of a trek by public transport. Good idea re Grays Inn Rd.

I guess the assistance service would take her across to the Thameslink station if asked. Could you meet somewhere more convenient on the south side of London instead?
