Also, it's a long way from Nuneaton to Warrington Bank Quay. Not sure if Winsford, Hartford or Acton Bridge have toilets or not.

I doubt it, are they not unstaffed? Do express trains pass platform faces at Nuneaton? I will pay attention next time.

Where would you go (no 1or 2) if you were doing the Far North line for example?

and yes there is plenty of countryside, but not a lot of bushes if IIRC.

The 158s used on that line have toilets on board though don't they? Surely the driver could make use of that at the next station stop?

Oh yeh silly me I forgot about the stock.

Is there any loco haul freight up there?

Yeah, all Class 66s now. You get them on the Oil tanks to Lairg, occasional logs runs to wherever (they run after the last train and load wherever there is felling) and pipes to Georgemas Junction

When on a ballst turn at Leeds, we had to stop all the junctions from Leeds City upto Ardsely tunnel as we had to propell along the main line to the tunnel.
All the juctions were stopped waiting for us to shove the train out of the station .
One of the crew decided he wanted to use the bog in the mess room at Leeds.
He got off the train and did what he had to do.
The inspector asked him if he would throw out a Guard s Parcel, to which he replied;
" If Sir Robert Read craps in a bog, so do I, and the only parcel I get is one at Christmas. "
The job was stopped for 20 mins and nothing came of it.
If you have to go , you gotta go, and sod the clock.

Ah, this thread is too funny. There should be a 'like' button for peoples posts.

I was working a 321 set on day because my hauled set decided to deconfigure. I got into the rear cab and there was a strong smell of urine. I told my driver about it and he explained that some drivers pee into the screen wash bottle/tank thingy (its behind a cupboard door kinda under the desk)

Yes that's the alternative to using a bottle!

I remember once having to advise the signaller of a delay once due to the driver requiring a emergency PNB and that's because the train the driver was working didn't have onboard toilets and also because of the major disruption preventing the said driver from using a toilet earlier.

Didn't help not having toilets on the platform the train was on nor having no toilet roll in the staff toilet!
