photographing rail stations and trains

i will be visiting UK - durham, leicseter, london, northhampton, york and few other places - i am a photographer from singapore and was wanting to take monochrome pictures of rail stuff" - want to know from peple who are in this forum about tips, interesting places, old rail station facades, platforms, ideas and permissions if any:roll: and other related stuff - i shoot morning 7 am to 10 am and sometimes late afternoon 5 pm

Obey all safety notices - stand behind yellow lines at the edge of platforms. Never use flashguns. Do not use tripods at locations where other people might trip over them. At some stations, they prefer you to contact the supervisor if you intend to take photos. Some (mainly) larger stations now have ticket gates, and unless you have a valid rail ticket, you will need permission to pass the gates.

Beware, you may meet a few bored / jobsworth staff who dislike photographers - but note that they have no legal rights to make you delete any photographs - in general, only a court of law csn do that.
