I have heard it pronounced Looger barooga. Then again, hasn't everyone?!!

Infest indeed. I've been to six of them -and am now close enough to get a taxi home. I actually look relatively normal in amongst the infest crowd. Hoping this year's turns up.

Milngavie. Follows no rules of pronunciation whatsoever. Fundamentally impossible to get right without having been told how to say it.

"Mill-guy" or "mull-guy" depending on the nuance of your accent. Either's acceptable. Anything involving the "n" or "v" is wrong, they're both silent. There are no other words or placenames that I know where this is this case. As I said, no-chance without being told.

I've heard Exeter pronounced as 'Excexeter' or something similar by locals. I've also heard Barnstaple pronounced with an emphasis on the 'a' (not sure how to spell it phonetically).

The only problem is since I've been at Exeter uni I've started to pronounce my 'a's with a Devon twang!
