Phantom engineering works?

Looking at booking a journey Stirling-Cambridge on the 13th of October, both National Rail and NXEC websites give me some odd routes- via Glasgow, and even via Glasgow and London! According to National Rail though, there's no scheduled engineering works that could affect the journey that day.

The problems seem to be between Stirling and Edinburgh. Putting in that as a journey, I get direct rail Replacements, or the option of a train to Polmont and change there- for a train.

There appears to be work on the Saturday and Sunday preceding (11th and 12th).

Anyone able to shine a light on this?

Ah, cheers, finally found the information on the FSR site- why do they (well, JourneyCheck actually) have different information to National Rail Enquiries?

It shows the altered trains if you search for a specific journey, but gives no explanation

It is the rebuild etc of Newbridge junction for a double lead onto the new double track Bathgate line, and some associated construction of OHLE masts (though not the wirement necessarily). This also involves the changes in signalling etc.

The weekends should be ok with reversing at Dalmeny, and extra trains running via Shotts, but the Weekdays will be murder......

Reversing at Dalmeny, are they? A piece of rare track in Scotland then for you track bashers! Only passenger train per day goes on this in either direction usually (the peak time Kirkcaldy-Glasgow Queen Street).
