On this day, ten years ago, my family had a new arrival - a little kitten my sister named Bella. She was born only next door and when she came through our door she was 43 days old. So, in spite of having a hard time at Uni at present, even today is happy for me

We also have a hamster, named Minnie (my niece's idea). Not that I can have a pet at Uni though...

So what animal friends do you all have? I know about a couple of you, but that is all (sorry 90019 )...

My mum has a goldfish, which is about three years old.

We have a cat, starting to get a bid old and forgetful now, we got her back in 1999ish. Don't think she will be around much longer

I have one dog currently. He's called Blackie (I blame my parents for letting eight year old me name the dog!), he's is currently fourteen years old and is very friendly (a bit too friendly really, visitors don't always appreciate a dog rushing up to say hello, but we do our best to stop that). He's had a really long middle age and has only in the last few months begun to show any signs of his rather advanced age for a dog (going a bit deaf and blind as well as not running around quite as quick as he once did). All of which means that I suspect that he's not got all that long left, he still has a zest for life however so that's still in the future for the time being.

Over the years we've had a variety of pets including gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs, cats and rabbits.

A 2 year old Labrador called Bailey. Sorry the photo is sideways! Got her in March, first Dog we've had. Had fish, rabbits, hamsters, cats, all the normal stuff. Would like to have chickens at some point!

Its interesting to think that collectively local education authorities, (through the policies of individual schools) were primarily responsible for the extinction of an entire species.

Hmm I wonder how many kids actually tried arguing that with their teachers?

Goldfish for me. Have had chickens and an African-Grey in the past though. Chickens were many years ago, African-Grey so bloody annoying! Gave it away in the end to my grandmother

I did have a pair of Ratties called Frankie and Rocky but lost them both to old age this year, taking a break while I redo the living room

My Family has around 6 fish which are about 2 years old and 2 dogs 1 Labradoodle and 1 Poodle.

And i have a Bearded Dragon which i think is around 4 years old as i got him from Morley Exotic Animal Rescue Trust and i got him around 2 years ago.

We've got a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and two fish. The dog turned seven last month. The fish have been going for about a decade.

I have 3 Cats.

Molly, Jeffrey and McMurray. I'll put some pictures up laters. Molly is eldest, a 8 year old female that is fairly pleasant but despite being well fed destroys all the wildlife within a mile radius of our house. Jeffrey is a 6 year old male that is incredibley patient, friendly and sleeps alot. McMurray (Or Mac for short) is an 8 week old kitten that we took in from a rescue centre. He's a little monster to be honest, Molly stays out of his way after her early attempts to mother him were rejected. He tries to annoy Jeffrey by tapping him and attacking his ears but Jeffrey is so patient he lets him get away with it until he just walks off into another room. It's like having a little kid in the house to be honest, Cats are brilliant animals though.

I love animals and alas don't have any pets living in my own house at present. However back at my parents I have 2 cats who are getting on quite a bit (around 16, maybe slightly older), by the name of Tia and Rosie. Rosie is a strange one - she keeps giving you every impression she's about to pop her clogs and then suddenly perks up a lot and gets better. Can't be too long now though you would have thought. Tia is a grey cat, slightly younger, Rosie is a long haired moggie type.

Then there's the other cat in residence, Lynx, a 2-3 year old Siamese who belongs to my older brother and is staying with my parents temporarily - he has the typical Siamese yowl and looks a little weird, but is quite loving and affectionate.

Then there's the dog, Max, a cocker spaniel who is getting on for 2 years old. Plus the rabbit Honey (or possibly Toffee), recently bereaved of her identical sister, Toffee (or possibly Honey, it's impossible to tell them apart).

Yes I have a dog, a Whippet bitch and they are a superb little animal full of charm and grace, would not hurt a fly .... well yes actually, when a big blue-bottle comes in house she goes bonkers for it, snap snap snap !
She also loves cats ....not ! #1 enemy and there are plenty out on our streets. Hunter instinct kicks in where she will stare at it intently but as soon as it moves a muscle, she's off !! She wont move in for final kill as she was once beat-up by a large Giner Tom when still a middling pup but she dont 'arf make 'em run! Comes back all wound up with heckles all along spine raised-up. Proves me with endless hours of entertainment.

We have an Alsation cross called Poppy whos 2 years old. She can be a pain at times and seems to respond better to German commands even though as far as I am aware she has never been to Germany. But she is so gentle with the kids and very affectionate. Ill add a picture later when im not on my phone.

I have two geckos, the first is a Leopard Gecko called Gary and is 3 years old, and the second is a Crested Gecko called Tango. Gary lives in a desert enclosure and Tango a rainforest set-up.

Alas, Rosie finally snuffed it on Monday at the grand old age of 17, according to the vet who looked up when we first registered her. Strangely enough, compared to when I've lost pets before, I don't feel particularly sad. Previously, I think, they've been far too young and been lost through misadventure (hit by cars etc), whereas this time she had a very long, full and hopefully happy life and passed away in a quiet and dignified manner, which is about the best anyone can hope for. So it's more a case of 'cheers for the memories, old friend', than feeling sad about what has been lost.

I also lost my cat last Wednesday, she'd been suffering with kidney problems for a while now and suddenly took a turn for a worse so we took her to the vet's and they said it would be the right thing, given her age and condition. She was 15 and been in my life all that time and is the first animal/person/anything that I've lost. Still getting used to not seeing her around.

We have Keefa, he is a Rottweiller (English style) with a tail. Bailey, a collie. Penry, a golden retriever. Max, a collie cross german Shepard and my girlfriend has Lilly, she's a Westie.

We have no pets as she wants a dog and I want a cat and we dont want either ones.

I do have a goldfish in my office though.
