Petrol stations

Surely you don't park at a petrol pump to carry out your non petrol purchases? I can't think of a petrol station that doesn't have some form of parking away from the pumps?

None of the ones near me do, other than parking at the air and vacuum bits, but then that's just blocking those facilities. A popular place to park is at the delivery area. It's also a popular place to light up a cigarette and chat on a mobile phone, neither of which I would recommend...

A fair few petrol stations have parking spaces, although these are usually there so members of staff can park there. The petrol station near my house though has about 10-12 parking spaces, because it's also a convenience store as well as a petrol station. I'm assuming that Esso, BP, Total et al focus as much on petrol stations being small supermarkets than being bona fide petrol stations as a way of making revenue.

When I lived in halls last year (I'm at uni), there was a petrol station across the road from my halls of residence which was open 24 hours a day. Although the goods in there were fairly overpriced, it was very convenient for those moments when you have to buy milk at 3am!

Hmmmm, personally i find the Petrol stations with shops very usefull, there a lot easier to park in with a 40 tonne truck, and stock most things that i need while living on the road all week, i'e, shampoo, food, drink, toiletries etc etc, parking outside your local store in town is near impossible and were not that welcome in big supermarket car parks either.

I find the problem is not on the fore court but in the store, ive been in numerous services where the operaters spend most of there time making people coffees and expressos etc, there should be a till where you pay for fuel only and then leave!

The smallest petrol station that comes to mind is in Solihull town centre and that has a couple of spaces for the non-petrol purchaser. All the other petrol stations I use seem to have enough parking. I too wouldn't recommend smoking at a petrol station... well not when I am there

A BP that I have used at the end of the M50 has a self service coffee machine which seems like a more sensible idea than getting the staff to serve you. The same petrol station has a Subway inside as well

I was waiting at the petrol station the other day, and I'd arrived at the right time, as it soon became exceedingly busy and the queues were seriously backing up. As I waited for the driver in front of me to leave, so I could fill up, I noticed this man in a Smart car squeeze into the forecourt right next to me, cutting off the queues and coming right up close. When the man in front drove off, the idiot then proceeded to drive in the gap between the pavement and my VW, cutting around me and pulling out at the pump, thus taking advantage of the fact that Smart cars are about two centimeters wide and six inches long.
I can't stand this sort of behavior at petrol stations.
