An e-petition has been started to ask the PM to look at NR and the TOC's rules regartding photography on railway premises.

Don't sign it. It is a waste of time and a badly worded petition

The ATOC guidelines are being looked at at the moment. By the time it closes it will be gone anyway.

As has been mentioned, the petition is a waste of time. Not only that, but the wording of it makes enthusiasts sound like an arrogant bunch with a chip on their shoulders who see themselves as above the law.

ATOC and NR are currently in discussion with the railway magazines and other invited parties to revise the guidelines for enthusiasts. Progress has already been made on preventing a lot of the problems that have cropped up in the past. When the consultation is over and the revised guidelines are published I'll post details on here.

Since when do any Terrorists use Cameras? They may plan it, but they don't go around shooting snaps of what they were going to bomb. 9/11? 7/7? All this speculation that they use cameras is wrong, and we are getting the full frontal force of it. I don't we like it, nor does Rob McCaffrey, so the 11,000 petitioners have a right to sign it. I've certainly have, and so has many reknown railway enthusiasts, like Colin J Marsden. And why are NR & ATOC only revising it with magazines only?
Aren't we allowed to have a say on how the guidlines shall be put down? It's our country, not just theirs!

In fact, Snapper has given a number of opportunities across forums (including this one) for contributions. A rival forum has given a few good ideas. Some of your largest sceptics can also be the best suppliers of good ideas at a crunch.

On the whole, rail enthusiasts have been given a say. If you peer into the last issue on the back page you will see me (Peter Dixon) writing about me detesting Rail Enthusiast ID cards. Let me assure you that Nigel Harris has been lobbied as well.

You are not being trounced on by magazine editors and people with head up rectum dysfunction

My largest concern is that the petition is badly worded and its lead time (a year) is too long. Many people are regretting signing this petition now and many more will regret it in the months to come.
