Just thought there should be a topic on the upcoming rebuilding of Peterborough,

Seems that gating is now more likely possible as one exit onto the platforms though the cafe on Platform 2 now has a Starbucks stall there instead of the doors which have been there since the 1970s rebuilding of the station.

Just need to resolve the issue of the "Staff" gate as every Tom, Dick and Harry just gets their screwdriver out or car keys out and lets themselves out there when there's clear signage available which state that it is not a exit or entry point onto Peterborough station.

Better off putting a lock on it with a number combo or putting a 007 lock on it.

I suppose so, I've been told what's going to happen to the station and it's long overdue, basically the whole station will be remodelled

There will be the existing entrance but also a second entrance on Midland Road.

The existing footbridge will go and will be replaced by a a link with stairs and lifts to all platforms plus shops.

More cycle areas will be provided.

Oh yeah, the gateline will go in as well.

I've got the gen from one of the guys there, just waiting to get a chance to see the proposed plans.

The food and drinks provision is not the best at Peterborough however for its size.

Erm... Yes, but then you might as well say don't have any shops at any city centre railway stations!


Have you tried getting something before travelling from Pboro at 5.30pm on a Sunday evening? Or 8am any morning - I have, and the choice ain't great!

Plans have been produced, I've yet to find or have a look though.
