PERTIS and LU

This is a hypothetical situation, but one I'd appreciate people's insight on.

Say I want to make a journey from Angel Road to Canonbury. The intended route involves taking the Victoria line between Tottenham Hale and Highbury & Islington with a SDS Route +NOT VIA LONDON £5.00

I put £4.50 into the Permit to Travel machine at Angel Road and jump on the last train of the day, arriving at Tottenham Hale after the National Rail booking office has closed. What is the procedure at Tottenham Hale LU ticket office/gateline?

A Pertis coupon within time is an acceptable method of payment at Underground ticket offices, or acceptable for travel on the Underground until you get to a booking office/member of staff at which you can make payment.

Plus, whilst I do realise this was just hypothetical, that situation would never arise with Angel Road anyway as trains only stop there during the peak commuter hours.

According to the National Rail website the Greater Anglia ticket window closes at 19.40 on weekdays. The last Northbound train from Angel Road on weekdays arrives at Tottenham Hale at 19.57.

19:40?! Goodness me. That'll be why there's often such a queue for the TfL ticket office there. Though note that Angel Road is north of Tottenham Hale, so we'd be looking at southbound trains from Angel Road, the last of which is 19:52 (so your point still remains the same).

As far as I'm aware there is no TfL office at Tottenham Hale, just a London Underground and a Greater Anglia one.

You are correct, I did mean Southbound but the times I gave were correct, the last train arrives at 19.57.

I cannot answer the bit about tickets that LUL don't sell, but their ticket offices can apply railcard discounts although it's a bit of fiddly process for them to. Presumably however, any such ticket office at a station also served by National Rail (such as Tottenham Hale) would be familiar with the process.

I disagree, as there are 'true' TfL ticket offices in the form of travel information centres. Staff working in such places have TfL (blue roundel) uniforms and badges as opposed to proper ticket offices run by London Underground Ltd.

I wasn't trying to be pedantic, but LU ticket offices offer a very different service from TfL Travel Information Centres, and can sell a number of tickets that TfL centres cannot, hence I think the distinction is important.

Having spoken with a member of staff in an Underground ticket office, I can confirm they can issue Railcard, Priv & Child discounts.

I take the point that TfL Travel Information Centres are a different kettle of fish to LUL ticket offices, and of course it's fine to have clarified that. (Though I would add that in my mind TfL/LUL are much the same thing; it's the ‘travel information centre’ vs. ‘ticket office’ bit that makes a difference.) I was just a little put out by the suggestion that I had imagined a non-existent travel information centre at a station I've passed through hundreds of times, simply because I hadn't used quite the correct terminology, when really everyone knew what I meant.

Anyway, water under the bridge. Who fancies a day trip to Angel Road? There's a lovely scrapyard to enjoy on the stroll in/out of the station.
