Was a passenger on this yesterday, and with Stirling being shut for engineering works and a clear run due to the Sunday timetable in Fife made it an absolute pleasure. What a difference this journey is compared to the usual 1 hour 40 minutes.

Is this a record for a diagrammed journey between Edinburgh and Perth? On a side note we caught up with a Dundee stopper at Ladybank so dare I say with the right run you could push the sub-60 minute barrier?

Couldn't resist checking the Scotland Passenger TT for 6 May 1968 to 4 May 1969.

Incredibly the fastest timetabled services were scheduled to take 1 hour 7 minutes from Perth to Waverley via Cowdenbeath, being the 1010 and 2000 Sundays only departures. I guess the other intermediate stops at Dunfermline Lower, Inverkeithing and Haymarket would have precluded a four minute early arrival in Edinburgh to match your run, but the booked Class 24 or 26 traction would have more than made up for it!
