Checked routing calculator... Not clear...
What would be valid routing points for this journey?

Also claims it is a mapped journey but see nothing for Farnborough Main / North / Stations.

The Routeing Point Calculator identifies Guildford (for Farnborough North, FNN) or Woking (for Farnborough Main, FNB) as appropriate origin RPs, and Three Bridges or Horsham as appropriate destination RPs.

Were there any particular routes you had in mind whose validity you wanted to check? Journey planners should be able to validate most routes in any case.

FBN - Portsmouth Stations - CRW.
It's the only real route that doesn't run via London without stupid changes.

Keep in mind if HRH is a routing point station... Is it suggesting CRW - HRH - Dorking (Change to SWR) - Woking - FNB

If so... That's a stupid question journey...
Although I've done the route I've suggested for and it did allow a station break at PMS... Ticket was valid on the gates.

You can go as follows (for example, on Tuesday morning)

08.17 Farnborough North - Gatwick Airport - Crawley 09.48
08.30 Farnborough Main - Woking - Clapham Junction - Crawley 10.18
08.48 Farnborough North - Redhill - Crawley 10.26

All are not via London (in fares terms)

There are no valid routes via Porsmouth (or Havant)

Travelling via Dorking Seepdene / Dorking (with a walk between the two) whilst valid, tends to take 10 minutes or so longer than alternate routes. And it involves at least as many changes, as well as the walk.

Thank you all

I bought the relevant ticket to cover the route I'm going via Portsmouth today so that's all covered...

But my ticket FNB to CRW has been accepted by the barriers at Soton Central to exit this station... Bizarre...

I don’t see Barrier operation (that almost certainly isn’t set up correctly) making an invalid route valid.

They may fix it now you've posted it here ;)
There was a time when Leeds ticket barriers accepted any ticket valid on that day, except for a platform ticket and Metrocards (or something like that!)

Possibly but then the barriers at Soton Central need to also be sorted :D:D

It is not easy to program barriers to accept all valid tickets, and reject all invalid ones. So it's a balancing act.

Sadly I worked for them for a while. The Data Tables stored in the gate should reject it if used as it not permitted for exit.
Should get Err Codes 125 / 126 depending on when used for either Entry / Exit.

Question is though - Was it ever a valid router and juts hasnt been updated...

That's not an easy question to answer.

For example there was a time when Droitwich to Claverdon was valid via Bristol, Southampton, Portsmouth, Reading. I used to use that example at fares workshops. But of course it was not intended to be valid, and it did eventually get fixed. I doubt it ever worked the barriers at those locations, but you never know!

Well unfortunately I have another Enigma... Ive complained to TSGN / Govia and it just gets ignored.

GTW - Z 1 - 6 TL Only. Upon Exit @ GTW it rejects the ticket saying not valid for Exit... Barmy. They confirmed they had fixed - Still not done ¬_¬
Im aware this is getting off topic and the topic has been answer - Feel free to lock the thread if need be :)

TL;DR - Not a valid route - FBN - PMH - CRW

Happens all the time (valid tickets rejected when you're arriving at the destination on a valid ticket) - not a surprise, sadly.

(As has been explained up-thread, it's very unlikely that we'll ever get to a point where all intermediate locations are properly coded but it sometimes it feels as though the rail industry can't be bothered getting even the basics right.)

Only problem with valid tickets getting rejected at the barriers could be with any poorly trained agency staff who have no clue and claim that your ticket isn't valid at that station. (I.e. over the summer breaking my journey on a ticket to Reading at Basingstoke to pop to a nearby supermarket during a 20 minute connection, "this ticket isn't valid here" from the agency staff when i tried to get back in a few minutes later).

Doresn't need them to be agency staff to be clueless and making rules up (there's a thread on here somewhere from a couple of years ago when I had an issue).

When it happens again and again and again - it does become a bit of a pain.

For intermediate points I usually just put on my idiot grin (*) and usually just get waved through. Obviously, I can back up the validity if needed but who wants to start that conversation? ( * To be honest, that's probably my usual expression. )

For destination rejections I occasionally do stop to have a chat and we share an eye-roll over corporate incompetence.

Break of journey should have been fixed by a very recent update.
