Off peak would Leamington spa to Aberystwyth via Birmingham international ,
rather than Birmingham Moor st then New st.I'm asking because I'm thinking better choice of seating at International.National Rail enquiries do not list this route, despite it being seamless rail journey as apposed to walk between stations in Birmingham. So would this be permitted.

It sounds reasonable enough to me, but that doesn't make it valid!

Leamington Spa - Moor Street is 22.75 miles, the walk to New Street counts as 0 miles, New Street - Aberystwyth is 124.25 miles, for a total of 147 miles.

Leamington Spa - Coventry - New Street is 28.75 miles, for a total of 153 miles, so going via Birmingham International isn't permitted under the "shortest route" rule, so we need to do a full routeing guide check.

Aberystwyth has Machynlleth Group as its only Routeing Point and Leamington Spa is a routeing point, so no fares check is needed.

Permitted routes between Leamington Spa and Machynlleth Group can be found on maps RB+CA.

Map RB is the relevant one for the Leamington - Birmingham leg of the journey and, not surprisingly, permits travel via both Solihull and Coventry (and also Nuneaton from Coventry should you so desire).
