Tomorrow I'm travelling Watford Jct to Shanklin via Waterloo with a Network card. Is it a permitted route to travel using London Overground (10.01) from WTJ to Harrow & Wealdstone and change onto Bakerloo line? Although it's slighter slower, there's a lot less steps and escalators.

Couldn't you also use London Midland or Southern to Wembley Central, which should be a similar interchange but quite a bit quicker?

Don't forget you'll be on a replacement coach between Ryde St Johns and Shanklin. Although if you prefer you can use your ticket on any Southern Vectis route 2 or 3 between Ryde Esplanade and Shanklin

You could travel on the hourly Southern service from Watford to Clapham Junction and change there for a train to Portsmouth, unless there's a reason why you need to go via Waterloo.

Almost certainly substantially cheaper that way, too. The Route Kensington Olympia fares are quite a bargain compared with via London.

Interestingly the Kenny O fares to the IOW are sometimes more expensive!

Take the off-peak return from Watford Junction to Shanklin:

Via Kenny O £75.00
+Any Permitted+Hovertravel £77.30
+Any Permitted+Wightlink £84.10

Presumably you can choose which sea crossing you use with the Kenny O ticket?

I'm meeting my daughter at Waterloo. She's travelling from West Drayton. She was advised to go via Reading and Guildford. So on this occasion, it's worth the few extra £ to meet at the first chance.

Thanks everyone for your advice.
