Does anyone know of any location(s) where Permali densified wood fishplates are still in regular use on a running line or busy siding? If so, any chance of a corroborative photo?
The one place I remember seeing them was at Southport on the Wigan line between Chapel street Stn and St Lukes bridge. But that would be back in the 70s.
There was also a cache of about 50 of them found in a manhole same area.
Never seen them anywhere else other than on a display board in a training classroom. --- old post above --- --- new post below ---
By chance I was turfing out scrap material from one of our stores on the NYMR today and on the shelf there were about 6 sets of Permali plates dated around 1965 - 70 unused and some in Junction form eg FB110 / 95BH 1/4 worn.
Are you looking for a set for any reason?
Or just trying to find out if any still exist in the track?
Our stock will be going into the Loco lighting up pile next week if no one wants any.
