Hail again!
Something earlier this afternoon raised a question in my mind about period returns and possible difficulties that a passenger might encounter if an unavoidable emergency arose during their trip, which meant they couldn't travel homeward until after the expiry of their return portion.
Consider the following scenario:
Obviously the passenger would need to provide formal evidence of this (I imagine that a hospital statement or "sick note" would be adequete) but I'm curious as to what provisions (If any) the NRCoC makes for such circumstances?
Farewell for now, and thanks in advance for any information.

Something earlier this afternoon raised a question in my mind about period returns and possible difficulties that a passenger might encounter if an unavoidable emergency arose during their trip, which meant they couldn't travel homeward until after the expiry of their return portion.
Consider the following scenario:
- A passenger buys a Saver Return, intending to complete their return journey three weeks after outward travel,
- The passenger falls ill whilst away (Or experiences a similar emergency) and has to stay in a local hospital for two weeks before (s)he is fit enough to return home,
- By this point, the passenger has effectively been away for 35 days - "Overstaying" the expiry date of their return portion by a week - Which would normally require that a new ticket be purchased for the return trip.
Obviously the passenger would need to provide formal evidence of this (I imagine that a hospital statement or "sick note" would be adequete) but I'm curious as to what provisions (If any) the NRCoC makes for such circumstances?
