People's experiences on the Caledonian Sleeper?

I've just had a nice trip to the Highlands and plan to visit again next year but my wife didn't enjoy the flight so we were considering the sleeper train instead (probably to Fort William).

The Mk5 sleeping cars look fine but how are they like to sleep in (it would probably be the bunk bed option we'd go for)? What is the noise and movement like et cetera? What are other aspects of the service like such as station side, if you have been on the train would you recommend it?

I've made three return trips in them now and I find the beds are more comfortable than in the Mk3 but I do agree with those who say the motion is greater - but it doesn't seem much greater to me.

One of my trips was in a mid-carriage Classic each way on my own, the other two were in an Accessible Double* - which is over the wheels and I had no problem sleeping on either. With the Classic, the ladder is awkward for getting into the lower bunk if you are getting under the covers, but if like me you change clothes before setting out and sleep in your clothes on top of the covers you won't have an issue with that.



*No, I didn't sneak the bookings - my wife is a partly sighted epileptic so that room is of great value to her.
