Managed along with a few pals to bag some TPE £1 tickets to Carlisle to facilitate a real ale pub crawl of the City. We have over 7 hours in Carlisle but the choice of real ale pubs looks a bit disappointing. Not helped by the fact that the micropub on Carlisle station has ceased trading.
I was thinking to break the day up and have a couple of hours in Penrith en-route to Carlisle. Technically speaking we can’t stop short our journey on a £1 advance ticket, but are there any ticket barriers at Penrith or would anyone care or check tickets as we exited Penrith station?
We would then buy another single ticket later in the day to continue to Carlisle.
Any recommendations for the best real ale pubs in Penrith and Carlisle?
