Following on from something which came up on another thread recently (where it appeared from announcements made on the new Virgin West Coast extension) that the Pendolino fleet may receive new lighting.
I have noticed on several Pendolinos along the network that some seem to have new lighting in small select areas on the train. As though it's part of a trial? There seem to be odd areas on several trains where two or three overhead lamps have been fitted with lamps which are more of a neutral white/slightly cool white, rather than the warm white which Pendolinos have traditionally had.
It could be that as the lamps are failing they are being replaced with neutral white. Or it could be that they are testing the lamps on the train to see whether it's considered an improvement or not?
Also I have noticed on several units within first class, that there are odd areas where small lamps have been fitted above the luggage racks which light up the interior roof area above the racks .These are also a cool or neutral white. Is this part of some sort of trial or has this been the case for some time?
