definately standard and on a service from nuneaton which starts at liverpool

If this is a Liverpool service then it will be operated by a Pendolino. Coaches F and U are the unreserved coaches. Coach E is an ordinary reserved coach (I believe).

Perhaps they have started placing reservations in coach E where it is probably that an 11 car set will be diagrammed and therefore will have coaches F and U (that will never be reserved).

Where is your source for that? Coach E has always been an unreserved coach on Pendolinos. Also stops people claiming a First Class seat when a Voyager turns up.

Possibly, but unlikely. I think it would create more problems than it solves as Virgin sets, due to their very high frequency and a fully-electrified network (except Chester and North Wales for Voyagers) means that there is a very useful amount of operational flexibility at the Euston end.

Sorry, my mistake. I looked at Virgin's online seating plan and it refers to Coaches F and U which are the additional carriages in 11-car sets; I thought these were unreserved. But having said that I could have sworn I travelled in Coach E once which wasn't an unreserved coach.
