At about 1605 this afternoon a heavily braking southbound Pendolino passed through Rugeley Trent Valley. It came to a halt approx 200m beyond the signals. It remained stationary for about 10 minutes. Anyone know why?
This is a long shot, but guessing by the time you were at Rugeley, it may have been the 1515 Man Eus, which left Stoke on time at 1550, but left Mkc 13 late. The 1740 Eus Man was earlier showing as delayed by an earlier train fault- so maybe VT altered the affected Pendo's diagram so it ended up finishing where it could get some attention? Would've been a tight turn around, althought it started 5 late.
Thanks for that. It seemed very unusual for it to brake so heavily and then stop way beyond the signals. Unfortunately I didn't notice the position of the signal as the train approached them.
