Pendolino Livery (Vote)

With the new VTWC livery being introduced I am curious as to which the members of the forum prefer ?
Personally I prefer the old red and silver livery but that's just me.

Admittedly the old livery did look good on them, but I really do like the new livery especially with the black window bands, so that's what my vote goes to.

I definitely prefer the old one. The new livery is okay but the 'flowing silk' effect will date badly imo.

The old livery is actually one of my favourite post privatisation liveries, I've always been a fan of liveries which integrate the yellow warning panel into the overall design which the orignal pendo livery did very well, the panel on the new one looks like an afterthought (as indeed it does on quite a few other liveries).

I think the new livery with bands JUST has the edge. JUST. I did initially prefer the original, but the new one has grown on me.

A Pendolino would look good in anything though, even sludge brown.

The flowing silk livery is horrid. Applying depth effects on a train livery ? May as well stick a photograph on it.

I've just seen it with Window bands and it's awful. The original Flowing Silk livery looks much better for me, but not as good as the one on the Class 800.

With window bands and red Virgin door logos the new one looks great and makes the old look quite dated.

Indeed, I think most liveries look best with a window band.

When I first saw a white Pendolino with red ends I thought that they must have run out of time and outshopped it still in undercoat...
Pity they didn't see fit to put in the UIC standard yellow stripes for first class (or red on the buffet/shop!)

That is where Greater Anglia REALLY got it right with their livery. Just look at the fantasticly bold red & yellow stripes at cant rail level on IC sets. Largely thanks to a particular ex-BR member of Crown Point fleet management.

Kinda wish they'd have printed the flowing silk vinyls in a glossy finish rather than matte. Other than that can't fault it too much. Oh and like the big white 1s on the first class black window band on 005.

On a serious note, I'll echo what other posters have said, namely that the new liveries are pants, the silk effect is whack. In contrast, the original livery was one of the best of the privatisation era.

I didn't notice that, I'd always assumed the yellow stripe for first class was compulsory for all liveries. Obviously not.

I have always thought the original virgin livery dull and boring. The colour palette seems overly subdued and the silvery gray a magnet for dirt.

Just ask me about Northern's repainted 156's during winter and then tell me about the silver livery. That orange brown break dust will eventually stain that livery permanently.

Yeah, red would work best. I'm pretty sure that Train Sim addon was actually made before the DDA rules were introduced! That makes the pack feel very old.

For me, the original Pendolino livery is the best, not only because of how close it was to my childhood, but also because it just looks the most natural on the Pendolino itself. The yellow actually looked like it was part of the whole livery instead of just being plastered on the front like it was a necessity (many TOCs have this issue in my opinion). The flowing silk is just a bland livery that is only improved by the black window bands. I think that once the livery is actually complete should Virgin win the next franchise it would look better, though the yellow front will still looked forced. If they went back to the old yellow pattern and added it onto the flowing silk when it is complete, then it will actually look on par with the original, maybe even better in the flesh. Either way, the old wins this one...
