Pendolino Limited View Seats

Tomorrow I'm booked on a Virgin Pendolino for the first time. According to the seating plan in the VT website, I'm in one of the 'limited/no view' seats. Although it seems self explanatory, just how bad is the visibility from these seats? Is it simply a pillar or is it just half a window visible?

Sorry for asking what seems like an obvious question!

It really all depends on what seat you're in. Some seats, particularly at the end of the carriages, have practically no window, whilst others have half a window.

If you can tell us what seat you've booked, I might be able to comment on experience....

You can move to an unbooked seat with a better view if it's available!

Thanks for the replies - it's seat 5 in coach C. I might just ask the TM nicely if I can move.

Wouldn't bother asking, never had any trouble doing it unless someone turns up to use a reservation for that seat!

We've moved with no problems before to an unreserved seat on a Wolverhampton to London train as we asked to be going forward and our reserved seats were going backwards. There were hardly any reserved seats in the carriage anyway. As the train filled up quickly, I quietly let an elderly couple who were standing know that they could have our 'reserved' seats, so everyone won in the end anyway!

As others have said there is no need to ask the train manager if you can move.

There is usually an unreserved coach on a Pendolino so I would head for that. Off the top of my head it's coach E or U.

Restricted view seats at the theatre, cinema and football matches are usually discounted against the price of a standard seat.
Incidentally, I noticed that there was a seat in coach H first class that had no window whatsoever. Anyone any idea what number that was ? We were in 6 and 9 so it must be a lowish number.

Thanks to everyone for replying, in the end I moved and there was no ticket check so I couldn't ask the TM.

There were loads of seats with no view on the Pendolino - I didn't find it a particularly nice train, it was too much like an airline.

I agree Pendolino's are crap to ride on. Give me a voyager any day.

Also, as has been said, you don't need to ask to move, just move and plonk your arse in an available seat. If everybody had to ask, imagine the confusion/chaos that would cause!

Go in the unreserved coach (F on an 11 Car/E? on a 9 car) and get a ncie seat. Job done.

E is normally unreserved unless it's a last minute change of train.
