My top tip for Pendo tilt....

Try to look straight down the carriage, instead of out of the window, it works for me in FC at least... (You may end up staring at someone opposite you in SC)

Sorry for being off topic, but are Pendos comfortable enough in SC for long journeys?

I've always wondered about travelling SC for a change, but dunno how much of a step down it would be? It would save me a little bit of money though!

I walked into standard class... and kept thinking it was first class!! I had my own table with just one person on it, and then the four seater tables opposite.
Nice air temp. too!! to say it was such a hot day!!

What is the difference in First Class? Apart from the complementary goodies!!

Bigger seats, far more relaxing atmosphere, quiter, alot more space, reclining seats, at-seat service, like you mentioned, it's just a far more superior way to travel, and cheaper than SC walk-on tickets in many cases

Off topic:

AXC FC is even cheaper, and far more superior to the pre-Arriva XC offer on Voyagers.

Unfortunately however, AXC are going to limit (unsurprisingly) the quantity of AP tickets available on peak services in the future.

On VT, you can get a free weekend upgrade with PRIV Saver returns (not just SOR's)

For non staff (i.e. public), everything is now £15 upgrade- no £10/£20's anymore.

(officially, you can't upgrade SC AP singles on the train using the Weekend Upgrade)

I would leave Leeds earlier if you can, 10 minutes is not a lot at Manchester bearing in mind your whole move will go out of the window if you miss that connection.

Oh, and don't bother with the tube between Euston and Kings X, just as quick to walk - probably less if you have to buy a ticket first.

I'm quite a fast walker.. Did Paddington to Marylebone in just under 10 minutes, despite having to stop a few times to double check with members of the public that i was indeed walking in the right direction!

Yeee, when I went on residential with school, it took a good 25 minutes for me to get there...

What about Linslade tunnel on the down? That a pretty tight reverse curve out of the station and not canted to the extent of Wolverton or Berko.

I always enjoy that one! In the old Class 87 hauled Mk3s, when that bend was taken at speed there always used to be a lovely 'howling' noise from the wheels. Never ever heard that anywhere else on WCML - wonder why it only happened there?

Euston to St Pancras is about 10 to 15 mins easy walk down Euston Rd. It depends on how you catch the lights and how many WCML passengers are making their way to Kings Cross with suitcases because the WCML infrastructure has given up again. The majority of these will be resident north of the border and can be recognised by the wearing of fleece jackets in mid summer.

Good luck doing it in 2 minutes

I'd say 10 mins for the tube (3 mins each end to walk to/from the platforms, 2 mins on the tube, 2 mins average waiting time) versus 15 mins walking. (If you need to buy a ticket, add 20 mins to queue )

However if you walk very quickly it may be possible in just over 10 mins.

if we're diverted to Motorways, the M6 will be getting longer- or so i've heard. Once the upgrade of the A6 from Carlisle to Gretna is done, the A74(M) and M74 should be being renumbered as M6- which will eventually extend all the way to the M8
