How do you open the doors manually?
Press F6 when running BVE in developer mode. To switch to developer mode, load BVE and right click anywhere on the screen. Then click on 'Option...', go into the 'User' tab and select 'Developer'.

Mart

On the Pendo (and also the 323), you can release the doors, by pressing 8 (left hand side), or 0 (right hand side) .

Then, when it's time to leave, if BVE4 hasn't already closed the doors, press 9.

Ignore the TM on the Pendo giving you the beeps to pull back, it's just BVE4 thinking your driving a Voyager, although i always beep them back before opening the doors.

I always delete the sounds for 'draw forward' and 'set back' etc in the train folder.

I have been running the Pendo for 2-3 days now and it is really very good. I tried it first on the NWM HST route but got a failure while loading, so tried it on the 09.00 Maybank- Hammerwich and it runs very well, except, of course, you have to stop at the 4-Car mark. I will have to try some of the suggestions mentioned here. But well done to the builder, it really is first class. Excelleration and braking are very good.

I got a bleep warning at one point and the train brought to a near stop and couldn't work out what it was, so I did a slow run past this spot and it appears to be an 'overlap' in the overhead wire warning, i.e. you have to shut off power to run through the dead 'overlap' section then open up again when on the live section again. I don't recall getting this with any other train on this route so the 390 must have the correct system working.

If you get stopped by this, you have to come to a stand, place the reverser in neutral and press the No. 2 key to regain power. In future you will have to remember to shut off power as you appoach this area. It could do with a better 'warning'.

I next tried it on the Maybank-Wood Green Route and you stop at the 'S' marks as programmed. The route is a bit old now but you do get a fair length of high-speed running and with only one stop inbetween it is a good trial for the 390.

My grumble with the Maybank-Wood Green route is that there are far too many stations, in fact, too many 'large' stations and some could do with deleting, say about every second one.

While the scenery is a bit dated it isn't at all bad but the track really needs fine tuning as it is a bit 'blocky' in places. There is also a 40 speed check that could be eased out to allow even longer fast running. But with half the stations gone and the same milage and with updating of track, signaling, aws and tpws, maybe even up to NWM standards! It could make a very good route. And how about adding it to the Maybank-Hammerwich route to really extend the high-speed milage!!!! Just a thought!

But once again, thanks to everyone involved on producing another great BVE4 train.

Cheers.

This happened with me once, and i thought it was some kind of AWS/TPWS system going off

I also tried the fantastic Pendo on the Northern Line for a few mins, but the electrical current kept playing up the Pendo, so i quit the game.

Where do you get this Wood Green route from?

Re: voyagerdude220,
The web address given with the ReadMe file is for Steve Green at
www.trainsimcentral.co.uk However, I can see nothing about this route but Steve is still active within BVE so perhaps he will read this, or someone will pass this on to him for further information. Have a look in to the trainsimcentral web site and see if you can make contact on this.

I have had ithe route quite a long time. I have also made up a bmp graphic Timetable for this route, showing all the stations and the start, stop and arrival times for the train. You really need this as there are so many stations it takes ages to remember which ones are which, although you do get a signal check for stopping in the stations. But I like having the arrival times as I can judge the run better from that. With thanks to Eeezypeezy who sent me the coding for adding a graphc timetabe to a route, which doesn't already have this facility.

Hammerwich-Wood Green continues from Hammerwich and can be considered an extension to the Maybank-Hammerwich route, which isi why I considered that this woud, be a great addition to the newer route as an extension for long distance high speed running, but if the older route is no longer being developed then perhaps nothing can become of it.

Cheers.

Wasn't Wood Green a tube station??? lol :-P With reguards to the route change stuff, stopping at 4-car etc., it's only a temp measure anyway, until the revised NWM routes come out.

It's due to the railgaps - in a normal environment a train has more than 1 shoe so should carry on taking power.

Re: The 158 Man,
Yes, that's the route. It runs well on BVE4 too, but obvioulsy the resolution looks better in v2. It requires some tweeking for BV4, especially the track work as the worst area of track shows up as gaps or 'straight-on' point joints. I ran it in v2 yesterday for the first time in ages and it looked a lot better. There are also a number of facing ground signals showing a red light to drivers.

Cheers.

That's what i thought, which is why i was wondering why the Pendo kept shutting down, like the Pantograph had come into a neutral section.

Re: voyagerdude220,
Sorry if I mislead you, it is with the NWM that the Pendo shuts down. The Hammerwich-Wood Green doesn't have that facility. It still has automatic AWS cancellation and I am getting Yellow over Green signals.

The other route that I get this with is the Southern Blighton-Treston Park 2 route, which is another that is mainly designed for BVE v2. This is another good route for longish fast running but, of course, is a third rail line and so restricted to 100 mph maximum. I would like to see this route tweaked for BVE4 with signaling to B.R. standards and with some speed restrictions increased.

Cheers.

Hi Bill EWS, you didn't miss lead me at all. I was just mentioning the problem I had with the Pendo, on the BVE4 Northern Line.

Thanks voyagerdude220,
The interesting thing about BVE is that you can fit any 'train' (loco or Unit) to run on it, but this of course doesn't take into consideration that one type of loco/Unit isn't suitable for that route. As others have mentioned, the Pendo is an overhead electric machine while the underground is 3rd & 4th rail. Not only that the Pendo would be well out of guage for the underground and in reality would be stricking patform edges, tunnels and bridges etc, So this use can only be for a bit of fun. However, it is interesting that BVE recognises this imbalance and you find it in how the Pendo runs on an underground route.

Cheers.

Station announcement: "The next tube train to Kings Cross St Pancras, will be the 17:29 Virgin Pendolino tilting train"

Please note that Voyager Dude 220 is at the controls, and will break the limit, and slam on the brakes on the approach to each station, probably leading to the front carriage being off the platform.

It's funny that you can make any train tilt on BV4, meaning that you could even have a tilting 153:lol:

Its a shame you cant make locos fail, overheat and the like.
because then it could be arealistic pendo run :D:D:D

Re: pedned,
It would indeed be interesting if locomotives and Units cold fail. BVE Drivers would have to learn about "High, Low and Blow". Now, what on earth does that mean!!!

voyagerdude220, for the 'dead' sections on the NWM, I have found that the 390 doesn't shut down as long as you set the power handle to 'N'.

Hope this helps

Re: mbonwick and Aureol,
NO, a BIG hammer is for a steam locomotive, a big Spanner and Screwdriver for a diesel, a pocket of fuses for an Electric and a Bucket of Water for a DMU!!!

The action taken when entering a 'Gap' is to shut off power at the gap marker, and re-power at the 'End' marker. This is to avoid a possible 'flashover' when the loco receives high voltage while the power handle is still open. The bleeper is to remind the driver that he/she is running under a 'dead' wire. I got stopped because I wasn't sure what was happening and timed out just as if I missed cancelling the AWS or TPWS button. Once stopped I had to press the No.2 key to regain a live desk.

As you have rightly commented, you just need to shut off power to avoid the problem. I knew of this but as no other 'train' has done this when running on NWM the 390 caught me out. Thanks for letting everyone know what you found.

P.S. Just noticed that I jumped ahead of Emergencybrakes' BVE Calculator, which is a great idea, so check it out.

Cheers.

As you have rightly commented, you just need to shut off power to avoid the problem. I knew of this but as no other 'train' has done this when running on NWM the 390 caught me out.
The neutral section behaviour was coded into the plugin released with the Class 323 update a couple of years ago and Tony put the neutral sections into NWM about the same time. The correct procedure for passing a neutral section is described in the driver's guide for the 323, as are the consequences of driving through with the power on: ie the possibility of a very nasty noise (panArc.wav in the train folder) intended to frighten the doodads out of you, followed by the risk of pan failure. As Bill says, pressing pan up/reset sometimes puts you back on the road (but not always), though in real life it wouldn't cure a damaged panto (assumed to have dropped due to venting air).

This worked fine in testing, but noone has ever admitted to being caught by it, which given the neutral section just after Kings Road on NWM and the driving style of some BVE'ers has always puzzled me. Nice to know this feature is finally being enjoyed :-P
