Am I right in thinking that there is a pendolino running around with an extra pantograph car, though without the pantograph, or did my eyes deceive me?

I didn't catch the identity of the unit.

The 11-car versions of the 390s have an extra pantograph car (sans pantograph).

The 11 car trains have a third traction transformer/converter, and the circuit breakers and such like to connect it to the 25 kV bus line are mounted in the same roof space as in the two 'proper' transformer cars.
