Enroute to Glasgow on 16:57 from Eus. Train failed near Leighton Buzzard. Driver reset something but failed again just outside Mkc station. He then did a full power off reset. Eventually got going and stopped at mkc platform for sometime before we got going.

Currently about 50 mins late and will likely be ovrtalen at Tamworth by the next Eus-Glc train :(

How often do full power resets happen

Once every few days, I think. It's the equivalent of "turning it off and on again" - the sage advice of any IT helpdesk facility!

Don't forget that if you are over an hour late, Virgin will provide compensation.

Seem to have been put on slow line. 2 More pendos went past, think now 58 late. May make up some time north of carlisle

Decided to get off at Preston and get the train 3 minutes behind as my original train had lots more stops. Just hoping that they give us an opportunity to overtake!

Not many places north of Preston

Even if you are a few minutes short of the full hour, Virgin will often pay out compensation...

Which they'd better do considering their pathetic compensation policy!

Out with the old, in with the new (aka. Delay Repay) in 2012! :D

'tis damn good advice if you ask me :D :D

I have been on a Pendo that has done a full reset due to (we were told) an inoperative PA system, while at Coventry.

Obviously no forewarning of EVERYTHING shutting down, including all lighting! Thankfully with that one it was daylight.

From what I have read though, it is hardly surprising something needs a kick every few days...they have well over 70 computer systems on board IIRC

It depends on the total delay to the whole journey, or, if you prefer, scheduled arrival time vs actual arrival time.

You can't take any actions to delay yourself further though - you must always act reasonably! :)

out of interest, when a full reset like that is done, prisumably theres a master nob somewhere that drivers use. How long does it have to be switched off for and what order to things kick back into life?
