I was wondering if anyone could let me know if this is a hopeless case:
I was waiting for a train at the station but about 3 minutes before it was to arrive there was a station change which I'd seen on trainline - I ran over to the platform but unfortunately it was right next to another train going to my destination which had been delayed a couple minutes (this other train was at platform 6A and the one I wanted to board was at platform 7). I had just about managed to get on but then had my ticket inspected and was informed it was a transpennine express train and as my ticket was only for northern trains I was told I had to pay a fare of 44.40. I got off as soon as I could (although unfortunately it only stopped once before my destination and that was only a stop away anyway) and bought a ticket from that station to where I needed to go as I was in a hurry to get home - I would have to return to the station I'd travelled from in a couple hours time. I'd hoped that by showing how the slight delay and the trains being next to each other each going to the same destination, as well as the station change might count as mitigating circumstances for an appeal as I wasn't trying to fare dodge, but I've been denied and so was wondering if there's any hope in re-appealling?
