Peaks into London before Xmas

Just a quick question.

Anyone know how busy the peak time services are in to London at the moment (SWML mainly)?

Having never done it in the week before Christmas I'm not sure how many people take the week off leaving more seats for the rest of us.

Coming in from Wickford (30 miles out) to Liverpool Street on the Southend Vic line the trains are usually a lot quieter in the week up to Christmas. This week, with the bad weather and reduced service, people have been left behind in the morning peak and last night people couldn't get on my 12 car train at Liverpool Street shortly a few minutes before departure. (And the poor souls at Stratford didn't stand a chance).

Not sure if the same is true of other operators.

Just what I was wondering, SWT are also running a reduced snow timetable ATM, so boding good for my idea to take advantage of some quiet peak trains.

I was at woking yesterday morning around 8 for around 15 minutes waiting for a guildford train, and most of the london bound trains around that time were marked as full and standing from their previous station. this was under the much reduced snow timetable though

Of course if you go later you avoid the commuter crush but as people down the SWML will know evening peak starts about 16:00 and finishes about 23:00 or sometimes later on a Friday. It starts leaving open the possibility of being stranded at Waterloo if they start not letting people on there.
