PC chair?

Hello all,

Anyone recommend any good PC desk chairs? I currently use a wresting chair with a couple of pillows for padding, though this has worn off pretty quick and it hurts like hell to sit for an hour.

I looked on Argos for some swivels with armrests but some reasonably priced ones were either rated low for comfort, or just didn't look comfy at all. Some seem to have these new look fancy chairs that just look stupid with no padding on at all.

I'd prefer it was a new flat packed one so I could carry it up the stairs and navigate it round the small and narrow landing.

Anyone any ideas please? I don't need a full on leather super comfy thing, as long as I can sit on it for an hour or two without getting a numb bum, that'll do!

I got one from Ikea that's very comfortable. I spent some trying different ones at the shop before deciding which to buy.
I wouldn't buy one without trying it first, what's comfortable for someone else might not be for you.

My current one came from John Lewis and whilst it was on the expensive side (into three figures), because they were made aware of my infirmity at the time of visiting their shop at Cheadle Royal and that it was a flat-pack, they sent a person to fully assemble it in my study at no extra cost for that service.

That is what I call superb customer service.

Got a cheapish one from Office World.
Forgot the principal of you get what you pay for.
6 months and the back snapped off sprawling me backwards off the chair.

Don't get a cheap one - I did this and 6 months later it collapsed.

I'm afraid my experiences don't match yours. I despise those chairs. The plastic ridge along the front is very good at cutting off the circulation in my lower legs causing aches and pains. Perhaps some of the most painful office chairs I've ever had the misfortune to use

I used to use a wrestling chair with built-in cushions but they hurt your arse after a while so I popped onto a local free-cycling Facebook page and found a really decent leather swivel that must have cost over £100. All that was wrong with it, it had a small paint stain on the back. What was better, was that it happened to be on the next road to mine!

My advice is join your local free-cycle page on Facebook (so in your case it will be something like 'Give it away for free Trowbridge' or something similar) and/or join Freecycle itself as there are quite a few people who give chairs away.

One of my friends is going to make an office chair out of the base from a broken one with the (red leather) passenger seat out of an Alfa GTV that I found at the breakers.

He's keeping that one though, as I don't need a chair just now, but when I need one we'll be going out to find another car seat to make one for me.

Surely you can just "borrow" a driver's seat from one of your buses.
