Pay dates

Start next week, 16th, for the week then off to signallers school. Ill be working out of Warrington eventually, but im wondering on pay dates. If i start on 16th will i get paid 4 weeks from that, or is there a set date in the month, say 25th, and i will get paid 16th till 25th then start the 4 weeks?

Hope that makes sense, just trying to work out money/family/bills/dog etc etc

Pay date is this Friday the 13th then every 4 weeks, next one 10th Feb so for you starting on the 16th you will be paid that week then 23rd and 30th 3 weeks in all.

The pay month ends on the Saturday before pay day so last day you get paid would be 4th March to get paid on the March 10th. Starting on the 6th would be the 2nd day of the new pay period so you will be paid on the 7th April

You will be on the pay rate one grade below the grade for the Box you are going to.

Until you are passed out to work the box (if you are a relief man when you're passed for your first box) you will receive the basic headline pay one grade below that of your job. If you are travelling to signalling school on a Sunday each week, make sure that you get paid for your travelling time (at the Sunday rate) each week. I was at signalling school at York last April and it took them 6 weeks to sort out my Sundays. I was told that it's a minimum of 6 hours at time and a half which is pretty good as travelling from the Wirral was only about 2 hours!!

Unfortunately I'm going to Basingstoke school which is roughly an 40 min drive, or about 35 min on a train, so doubt I'll get travelling time as I will travel up Monday!

If you are travelling to signalling school on a Sunday each week, make sure that you get paid for your travelling time (at the Sunday rate) each week. I was at signalling school at York last April and it took them 6 weeks to sort out my Sundays. I was told that it's a minimum of 6 hours at time and a half which is pretty good as travelling from the Wirral was only about 2 hours!!

That's a great piece of information as I will be traveling up on the Sunday. Who do I need to confirm this with when I start training?

You may need to fill out a time sheet - speak to your LOM once you have started and don't take no for an answer as you are entitled to be paid for the Sunday travelling. The minimum payment for any turn (not just when you're training but if you book on duty for anything at all) is six hours as has been said, and this will obviously be at Sunday rate.

If you start on 6th March, you won't get paid anything on 10th March as that pay date covers the four weeks up to and including Saturday 4th March. Your first pay day will be Friday 7th April when you will be paid for the weeks ending 11th, 18th, 25th March and 1st April.
After that you are paid every 4th Friday and, as above, it will be for the four weeks ending on the preceding Saturday.
