Paths for non-stop peak time Calder Valley-Leeds service

On arriving at Sowerby Bridge today I found that the train just arrived, which I boarded, was the late running 0732 to Leeds, which actually left Sowerby at 0813. The conductor announced that, because of its lateness, the service would now be running non-stop to Leeds. I thought that it would be amazing if the train didn't get held on the way, given the amount of traffic that time of morning. However, going via Dewsbury rather than the scheduled Halifax route, it arrived in Leeds at 0838, a journey of 25 minutes compared to the scheduled 44 minutes.

This did leave me wondering, was it purely a case of the train happening to be in the right place at the right time to facilitate such a quick journey, or does it indicate that they are paths available for non-stop Calder Valley-Leeds services in the peak, a service that there would likely to be a good level of demand for?

Looks as if it was allowed to delay slightly the 0730 Piccadilly-Leeds, already 9 late, which seems a reasonable decision. Once the works through Mirfield are finished, the question might be worth raising.

I presume there must be paths for non stopping services since the Calder Valley is the TRU diversionary route.
That said it was also previously planned to put a loop in at Hebden Bridge to facilitate them. Although now I believe thats fallen by the wayside.
