Just been speaking to a contact that i know that volenteers for Pathfinder and he tells me that:

The 31s to Barrow may not run due to not enough people booked.

The Western to Whatley Quarry and Bristol, may not run due to the Western is to heavy for the Avonmouth branch.

The 31s may not run on the Buffer Puffer 6.0 due to the 31s being to heavy for the Uckfield and East Grinstead branches, and so are looking into possibly having 20s on it instead.

The Spin & Win will run

Can't see how 31s can be to heavy for the East Grinstead branch seeing as Network Rail/Serco use them down there on test trains, check out the links below, all of them are class 31s at East Grinstead.

I’m sure 31s have been to Uckfield, I know 66s have and they are heavier than 31s.

Surely it would be easier to change routing/haulage, given that this tour is nearly 2 months away.

Swansongs are running as far as I know, I didn't know they were going to be crewed by Silverlink staff?

As for the BP 6.0, there are two trains which take TnT 31s with Mk1s and Mk2s every so often down the Oxted lines, they're called 1Z06 and 4Q07 so there is some gas emanating from somebody...

Whilst I have no idea if the story regarding them being 'too heavy' or not is correct, there is a difference between the 31s which do the NR stuff and those on the tour - 31/1s are RA5, whereas Mainline's 31/4s (which are booked for the tour) are RA6.

Exactly, 31/6s have no weight differences to a 31/1. Nor do they have different axle loadings IIRC

I think you will find its not just weight but axle loadings is what plays a good part into what locos can go where.

You'll find that 37405/6/22 are Class 37/4s.
