Pathfinder Tours 20th October 86 101 + 2 x 37s

Now that 86 101 is hauling part of the tour as well i presume it's something like,

86 101: Crewe - Willesden/North Pole

2 x 37s: Willesden/North Pole - Dungeness - Folkstone Harbour - Willesden/North Pole

86 101: Willesden/North Pole - Crewe

Or something similar to that?

Also i heard that on the incline at Folkstone Harbour, a tour cannot be top N' tailed there and theres no run round facilities there, would this mean that there will be another loco on the train as well that will come from Dollands Moor i would think?

Tours can be top and tailed at Folkestone and has happened several times including the recent steam trips there with steam loco on the front and class 67 on the rear

I looked at the subject line and thought it was 1986!

86101 is currently undergoing OMTR fitting and should be ready in time, but there is no guarantee
The 86 should be able to take the train all the way from Crewe to Ashford, for 37/6s on TnT

Has the entire route to Ashford been fitted with overhead wires, or the 86 with 3rd rail pickup then?

The only overhead wires at Ashford are on the High Speed 1 (CTRL) and platforms 3, 4, 5 and 6.

Interestingly, a PT advert in The Railway Herald advertises this tour as running with 2 x 33. Food for thought.

I would guess Willesden/Wembley for power swap.

Just going by info I received a couple of weeks ago which was wrong and I corrected it. No harm done, so why are you making a big deal of it?

I've been very reliably informed that only two of the EPS 37s are operational, and they are getting minimal maintenance. I hope the remaining two hold out for this tour

Which two out of interest? If its not the same two as worked the last EPS tractor tour probably get a few red pen merchants!

37604 is the one which has gone pop so it'll be the other two. Not seen 601 on a charter recently, and its fairly elusive on the Dollands Moor and Clapham route learners as well (both of them are booked to run this Wednesday).

The previous EPS 37 charter was worked by 37603 & 37604.

Which is good news for me as I'd like to see 37601 whilst she's still with EPS.

37601 is quite 'big' for haulage - it hasn't hauled a passenger train for over 5 years.

37604 has square wheels and is being robbed to keep the other two running, so it will be 601/603.

Can't be that big...i've had it! Raked it on a VXC duty, and then had it again when it came back to Brum again later in the day after another duff sat down somewhere! doesn't seem like that long ago either.....
