Passenger Information Systems

Does anyone know if there are any Ditra PIS (Passenger Information Systems) screens/announcements still in operation? Because they are getting quite old know.

The Yellow one can be seen at just about every station in SET land (at least within Z1-6)

The other one I used to see at most stations on the SWT services on the Teddington loop. No Idea if they are still there though.

Personally I prefer them to the newer ones as they are easier to read from a distance - especially in poor visibility conditions.
That said some stations really do need boards capable of displaying more information at once.

Chiltern use KeTech PIS coupled with Ditra automated announcing kit, so you can still hear Phil Sayer's dulcet tones for Up trains, and I think it's Elinor Hamilton on the Down.

Pretty much all stations on Southeastern's network (apart from HS1 and London terminals) still have the Ditra yellow cased displays, although new builds in the SE (such as the Gravesend remodel) are installing the ATOS/Infotec displays. The announcements I'm not too sure about, as they were recently changed across the network.

The older systems at East Croydon are now accompanied by newer screens on/around the new footbridge. An upgrade for the whole of the rest of the platform areas is apparently planned for the very near future. Staff have been wanting to have the CRT (i.e. old-style) monitors replaced for some considerable time, as they are so unreliable and insufficient in terms of both size and brightness. Rumour has it that some of the older components were once used on Tube stations and reused from those, but I'm not sure exactly how true that is.

I have seen the smaller yellow cased displays at Bromley South. Though the 'Expected' field is more of a metro/tube style countdown timer instead of displaying a fixed arrival/departure time.
The announcements were voiced by Anne which leads me to think that Atos software is being used.

There's another thread on here about some services now just showing the next train in minutes, rather than a set time that could be checked in a timetable.

At some stations, like Finsbury Park, you could probably do that at certain times of the day for services into Moorgate. Well, possibly also into King's Cross come to think of it.

Springburn, Cambuslang, Glasgow Queen Street Low Level, Garscadden & Bellgrove still have them. Last time I checked, Hyndland has both the Ditra PIS & the new screens. My local station, Singer still had the old cathode TV screens up until June - July last year.

I think they can do either depending on the location, route and time until departure.

The ones on Platform 6 at London Bridge have never shown the due time (at least not for CHX services). In this specific case I think that fine because with a train every 2-3 mins who cares how late it is? (Only the people getting off and they probably won't look at the board r that train)

On platform C at WAE they seem show expected time if it is more than 10 mins away or a countdown if it is less.

I miss the old clackety displays they used to use at CHX. Nice big text and you didn't have to watch it like a hawk as you could hear it.
But that is slightly off topic and was discussed a few months back.

Southern also use the Yellow ones and FGW used to use a green squarer version. SWT are slightly weird by using an Infotec screan* and Ditra PA, most operators use the ATOS PA. *on further reflection i think its actually a KeTech screen.

Probably an Infotec/ATOS as most operators use these nowadays.

Yes! Aberystwyth uses one (or two)? of these on the platfoms as well, as does the waiting room in Shrewsbury! Quite funny considering the request stops on the Cambrian coast line have nice modern ones!

My favourite platform indicators are the LED ones fitted by what was then Midland Mainline at most of their stations around 10 years back and still going strong at Derby, Sheffield etc. The only ones I have seen where the text is easily readable from anywhere on the platform.
