I injured my leg in the autumn and am still on crutches. I have used the train successfully and didn't book any assistance as stairs are easier than a ramp and I had a friend with me.
Next month I have a one way trip from Waterloo to Eastleigh late in the evening and I know it is bus/coach from Basingstoke to Easteigh. It is listed as an 8 minute connection with a long wait until the next one.
That sounds tight the pace I go, though I will try and make sure I am in the right carriage to be near the lift! I am trying to decide if I should book assistance or just rely on catching up with the queue and the coach won't go unless it is full while there is still a queue. Not sure what passenger assistance would actually be able to do for me?
Anyone got similar experience? (If it was daytime I would use it as time to get a coffee and get the next coach but will be around midnight at Basingstoke)

They could meet you off the train and be able to take any luggage, if that would be of any help, and then could get you to the front of any queues, and assist with booking a taxi if the coach doesn’t work out.

But all of that (aside from carrying luggage) is stuff you could do yourself (asking to be allowed to the front of a queue) or seek help from other staff members with should you do need it (booking a taxi).

I think it would be appropriate to contact SWR, probably their assisted travel team, and ask their advice on the matter.

I would definitely book journey assistance on this occasion under the circumstances. I understand there might be a long wait for the next rail replacement bus but try and see if there is a slightly earlier train from London you could get so you have longer than 8 minutes for the bus.

Thanks all, I spoke with the ticket office who have booked passenger assist for me. Mainly so they know I am coming. It does look like there is another bus (but it wasn't showing before as no good connections to it!) so options. At least I have no plans for the next day!!
