Hi All.

looking for a little advise if anybody is able to help?

I’ve recently done the first section of tests with the opc, which I have passed to the national standard, unfortunately I didn’t pass one of these to the enhanced standard that the toc was looking for.

I’ve been told I need to wait a minimum of 6 month to reapply to do the test when they recruit again in the future

im wondering if there is a way of carrying on with another toc from where I’ve left off? Will it just be a case of waiting for the role to appear again toc websites or would it be worthwhile contacting them directly?

I’m in the midlands, any words of wisdom is much appreciated

Thankyou

You'll just have to wait for the role to be advertised again somewhere. If you've only done the first stage of the tests, then as far as a prospective employer is concerned you're not too far different to anyone with no tests passed. I'm pretty sure even fully qualified drivers need to wait for vacancies to appear before they can apply.

At least on the bright side, you've still got all your lives remaining as you haven't failed any tests (which is my understanding of how it works).

You could apply to another TOC that's recruiting and accepts standard passes otherwise is a case of waiting 6 months I'm afraid.

Best idea would be to attempt to get in with another toc who accepts the national pass rate. Giving its still a pass you could retake the test in 6 months and end up failing.. as it overrules your previous, therefore a life lost. Use the 6 months wisely to apply for any Toc's who accept your current national pass

Best of luck.

The OPC website has a list of who requires national std and who requires enhanced

Thank you for this. I was surprised South Eastern wants people with the Enhanced standard. I honestly thought they wanted National.
Well that's goes to show the differences in what constitutes an enhanced pass. My passes were fine for Southeastern however for TPE my group bourdon test score wasn't high enough and I would have had to retake it.
