Erm, kinda started already as you can see in my sig.

Particular highlights:
Visiting 24 Merseyrail stations in 5 hours using trains and my feet only.
In one day doing 35 North Wales stations (Flint-Holyhead, Conwy Valley line and Pwllheli-Penrhyndeudraeth) by car.
In 23 hours and 49 minutes, visiting 74 stations by car route Weeton-York, Selby/Whitley Bridge-Hull (brisk walk to Barton-on-Humber and back over the bridge) - Scarborough - Malton - Thirsk - Stockton - Battersby - Whitby - Saltburn - Dinsdale and all inbetween! (Darlington was just out by 12 minutes!)

Not sure if you mean to visit all 2500+ in one year or by train alone or what but I'm doing it as something that will be spread over a couple of years. I'm in no rush but on days when I do want to do stations, I tend to get a good route so I'm driving the least miles but get loads in. You should see my plans for Cleethorpes and Aberystwyth! :P
