One of the replies referred to a Part Time Season Ticket. I did not know these existed - how and why do they exist?

Great Western offer them on certain flows (mostly around Devon & Cornwall I believe). They're valid at weekends and on three days (chosen at the time of purchase) during the week.

And I believe that the cheapest flow is Exeter St Davids to Exeter Central.
