This has probably been asked to death, but I am interested in a part time booking office or general customer service job in the Sheffield area (Chesterfield/Sheffield/Meadowhall/Barnsley etc.) for when I go to Sheffield university. How regularly do such roles come up, and are the TOC websites the only place I can keep an eye out for potential jobs?

Keep checking Northern's recruitment site- its pretty much the only place they are advertised.

You have to bear in mind though that around 1000 people apply for each job- so you're going to have to show experience.

I've not seen anything advertised up them ways for a LONG time. I would conclude that a p/t job arising in that area would be pretty much zero. Northern may not even have meal relief, (which is effectively what p/t will be).

EMT probably won't have much p/t work.

Have you thought about applying for part-time conductor role with Sheffield Supertram? Work the peaks/outside study hours, then work your way up to tram driver, good experience to get in with a TOC later?

(Thats what I did)
