Part 2 of Arriva Train Driver Test

Hi Guys,

I've been reading this forum for a few months and have found it extremely useful (thank you everyone). I have passed the 1st stage of the Arriva train drivers assessment and have been invited to take part in stage 2 next week.

The tests I have been told we will be assessed on are:

• Trainability test
• Reaction test
• Criteria based interview
• Personality questionnaire

However, I have seen on here that it is common for people to be assessed on a few others test such as:

• Awareness and reaction test (looking at images and remembering what was on them)
• Hand Co-ordination test

Am I missing something? Are these tests included in the tests I will be doing or I'm I not assessed on them?

That sounds more like it. I just spoke with someone that completed the assessment last year and he said the same thing as you. Strange that their email does not mention some of these.

Hi,

From my understanding the tests listed are:

Trp 1 - Listening / Reading information and answering multiple choice questions on them
Trp 2 - Cables and Dials (or dials and cables)
Wafv - Flashing Grey box on screen that changes colour
Atavt - Image flashes up and answer questions on what you saw
2 hand - Moving a ball around a pattern while trying to stay within the lines
Vse - NOT SURE WHAT THIS IS
MMI - Criteria based interview with set questions e.g. explain a time when you followed rule ad procedures etc.

Is my understanding of the tests correct? Can someone explain what the VSE test is please. Also, is the Personality Questionnaire used as part of this interview or the managers interview if I pass these assessments?
