One of the things I have been enjoying since March 2013 are parkrun 5k (3.1 mile) running events situated all around the country and even world!

One aspect I particularly enjoy is combining it with my enjoyment of train travel, and travelling to visit lots of different parkrun locations. I'm off to London (Richmond and Kingston) tomorrow for a special January 1st edition and then i'm off to Ormskirk on Friday to do that one on Saturday! (made sure to pick the most interesting route I could find for my advance tickets)
Is anyone else on the forum a parkrunner, and if so, do you have any stories to tell?
I have managed to bring my time down from 44:54 (very slow) to 26:15 with very little running at other times. Only this July did I start cycling to work (3.6 miles each way). My main inspiration for starting was to speed up my running pace so that I could be more competitive in tube challenges (and now also RailUK challenges!), but have found that I now enjoy it for itself.
