Paris RER upgrade

Happy new year. I am sitting here it is raining outside thinking about summer hols
Does anyone know when the upgrade is to be finished on the direct metro form Gar d nor to Gar d lyon
On my trip south by train I had to change metros and got lost?

Can't see any current reference to works on the RER or Metro between Nord and Lyon.

Thanks very informative, traveled in August the direct line plat 44 at Gar d Nor was fenced off there were posters ( in French )
looked like a major upgrade on the whole line
If I remember from the year before the trains on that line were not up to our "s" class standard, bit old and grotty
BUT the fare in central area is 1.90e I always have an all zones but I think Zone 1 in London is about £ 2 ie about 2.40e

For first time visitors to Paris, coming off the Eurostar and searching out the RER to Gare de Lyon
can be a daunting experience, as most of us who have travelled said route would no doubt testify.

In the past, my personal beef had been the purchase of Metro tickets, with machines not working
and one, sometimes two, operators only working the ticket counters.

Over time there has been much improvement but lack of staff at the barriers can still be somewhat
worrying for those not fully abled and/or with kids on tow.

Being able to purchase [metro] tickets on the E* has been a god send as they now also sell them on
the TGV coming from the South to Paris. There is a sign stating said sales in the bar of the latter but
not, from my recent experience, on the Eurostar and with seemingly limited availability of single tickets.

Having a little local knowledge has been an added bonus as the 10.07 from GdL to Barça is attainable via the first Eurostar out of St Pancras - all being well - but have yet to master the correct exit at GdL and always seem to end up at least five minutes walk from the main concourse.

The travel planner at https://www.ratp.fr/en/itineraires has been pretty accurate for me. There is an option to have the pages in English, although some of the links to pages like https://www.ratp.fr/en/travaux-manifestations are in French, but https://translate.google.com/ helps out with them.

I couldn't see any current issues, or planned work with the RER between Gare du Nord and a Gare de Lyon.

I've Googled but cannot find anything. Am I correct in thinking the OP's post headline contained a typo
or will any new potential line be called RAR?

Just need Stratford International to open its doors to E* - okay, I know the chances are less than slim -
and I'll be happy as Larry (whoever Larry is).

Yes sorry it is of course RER when I think about it RAR it a format on you tube
The line was closed in August with big signs ( in French ) looked like it was about a refurb. But from what it seems here it was just a short term things
Hope not to get lost when I go again in June

The summer holidays are used for major overhauls to the RER network as there are fewer passengers at that time. This is expected to continue throughout the coming years, as many parts of the city's rail network are in need of maintenance.

Ahhh thanks for that, All the other helpers are looking at the updates now and saying nothing going on
But our friends, the French gum up the works when all the brits are going south to spend their euros

RATP and SNCF will organise replacement routes, with either bus or metro. Just make sure to check the journey planner closer to your actual journey and you'll be fine.

If you're in doubt, simply look for staff and ask for help. SNCF staff are recognisable by their red vests ("gilets rouges") and RATP staff are easily recognisable as well.

I cannot believe in all the years of traversing Paris via RER that I've not once
ever bothered to check before going as to engineering works etc #dumbass

Touch wood only once have I encountered any problem - transport strike pre-E*
days and had to walk from GdL to GdN but thankfully had plenty of time to
get train to the then Hoverport.

I've two trips planned for this year - May/June and Sept/Oct but hopefully will
give Paris a swerve and either go via Lille or direct to Avignon then on to the
People's Undemocratic Republic of Catalunya from there....

RER D has such timetable gaps, and a wait at Chatelet Les Halles, that you're almost as well to take RER B and use the cross-platform change to A at CLH.

Actually, scratch that. The RER stations at GdN and GdL are so built into the labyrinthine underbellies of the stations that you're almost better off taking metro 5 to Quai de la Rapee and walking the last bit.
