Most of this has already been announced but a RENFE press release gives a starting date of 01/09/2024 for their services beyond Lyon to Paris.

... Renfe has confirmed with SNCF Réseau the reservation of timetables to extend its operations to Paris and quadruple its services in France in 2024.

The large increase in frequency probably means UK-Spain trips will become easier with better connections.

The Figueres-Perpignan HSL could see 10 passenger trains a day each way rather than 2 at present!

There is a sting in the tail:
This forecast is based on the progress of the homologation process of the AVE S-106 sets that Talgo is carrying out in France ...
So blame Talgo when the date is delayed.

It's criminally underused at the moment. My brother keeps trying to use it to reach his place near Figueres, but even when he can make the threadbare timetables work, he's beaten back by tickets not on sale, and difficulty of renting a car at Figueres-Vilafant vs Girona Airport.

It seems like RENFE will only go to Gare de Lyon, and not Lille, which is a shame but understandable.

And in Lyon they use Perrache rather than Part-Dieu so even if the timetable fits, connections to/from Lille TGVs will not be as convenient as they might be. And no through ticket of course.

3-way competition on Paris-Lyon with Trentitalia and RENFE could be interesting, albeit SNCF will still run most of the frequencies.

But they use Perrache currently as I imagine it’s easier to stable trains between workings, hopefully if going through to Paris they’ll use Part Dieu.

My reading was that Lyon-Perrache will in addition to Part-Dieu, not instead. Possibly the same with Montpellier Saint-Roch & Sud-de-France. Although that's based off a dodgy translation.

In addition, the company will expand the list of stations served in French territory by adding three new stops on different routes: Lyon Perrache, Montpellier Sud de France and Nimes Port-du-Gard

According to the DB timetable, the one current train uses Part-Dieu.

Note that the article refers to competing on Paris-Lyon-Marseille (copying Trenitalia) so how many of the 8 trains each way will run Paris-Barcelona is anyone's guess

My mistake.
Also, in the current timetable (January) one of the TGVs uses the Montpellier/Nimes contournement the other and the AVEs go through the main stations, so RENFE are planning to use the bypass too though it only appears to save 5' or so currently.

I can't find the source, but I have a recollection of an earlier announcement of one early/late Paris-Lyon, maybe that ends/starts at Perrache.

That would give 7 to Barcelona at least one of which extends to Madrid (currently the Marseille).

Anyone know if/where SNCF Réseau publish path applications/determinations? I can't find anything other than press releases.

So that's 5 trains per day each way Paris - Lyon? Do you know if the Paris to Barcelona will go via Lyon?

It shows that Renfe is (understandably) more intent at competing on the most lucrative routes in France - one extra international train pair per day is a token.

Argh. 1 extra Barcelona service only gets Paris-Barcelona back to 3 per day, total 5 on the Perthus section.

Nonetheless the competition in France could be great fun for a while, RENFE throwing their toys at SNCF in retaliation for Ouigo on Madrid-Barcelona/Alicante and 9 their euro loss-making fares.
