All down to the 800m for KJT in the heptathlon.
She needs to be 8seconds quicker than current leader Thiam to take the gold.

She's a stronger 800 runner than Thiam but 8 seconds looks like a big ask

KJT’s personal best is 2:05.63, about 6 seconds faster than Thiam’s 2:11.79.
So it’s within the realms of possibility.

Not sure, but I think we have another Brit running in the 800, poss not if it's two heats. However if that were the case, the second Brit needs to help out by getting in front of Thiam and making her go the long way round, maybe adding a second or so onto the time. All perfecly legit, if you have the inside there's no obligation to move away. Also there will be runners looking for bronze who will also want the inside to themselves. KJT has to start quick and keep out of trouble!

8 seconds is, what, 90m, so Thiam needs to be leaving the last bend as KJT finishes roughly.

If people were asking for a bank holiday after England's Euros, surely it's in order for all countries to have a celebration day for our wonderful GB team here?

Well she gave it a bloody good go. Ran a PB but the Belgian athlete made it with a couple of seconds to spare.
Thiam is a phenomenal heptathlete

Caught the finish of the Women’s 10 kilometre swim in the Seine. The winning time was just over 2 hours. Very impressive for 6+ miles in real money. However for a spectator sport it’s ranks alongside watching traffic lights change.

In the Athletics tonight a Bronze in the Women’s 1500 meters & 2 bronzes in the men’s & women’s 4x400 meters relays.

There was also a silver in men’s Taekwondo, a silver in women’s duet artistic swimming & a bronze in the men’s 10m diving.

For those unaware, the BBC are streaming the closing ceremony in 4K if you go through iPlayer.

France has already got some of its terrestrial channels in 4K (it used capacity from the digital switchover for higher resolution while we used it for loads of channels) so a 4K world feed isn’t a surprise.

On the final day GB won a Bronze in women’s weightlifting & a Bronze in the women’s track cycling sprint.

The women’s Marathon was won by Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands, she had previously won Bronze medals in the 5,000 & 10,000 meters earlier in the Games.

USA finished top of the medal table with China in second. GB in total got 65 medals with slightly fewer Gold medals than in Tokyo.
