It does make sence in a way, but it's worded very badly (and should not just focus on digital either). Photographers with SLRs do tend to take a lot longer getting a shot than most people, and the more professional they are the worse they are. I have to admit it's annoying enough at events having to wait for people taking ages getting the perfect shot with their SLR before either being able to get your own shot or actually move without having someone having a go because you get in their way whilst setting up their shot or get on one of the 100 different shots they take of the same thing. From a point of view of private locations there is also the issue that many people like that will have commercial interests. Generally those taking photos for their own use won't mind if it's not perfect, but those who want to sell them on or upload them to paying internet sites will. Oviously it's something the owners don't appreciate, people making money from their property.

If the explanation was simply because they cause an obstruction, they could've made it a bit clearer than the load of techno-waffle in the sign. It sounds as if they're worried about Spies or something.

I read somewhere that a lot of signalling and radio equipment is now at aldwych and they probably have no EM protection so that might explain the situation.

Completely untrue. The vast majority of pro's (and I mean serious pro's) can get their shot very quickly as they're familiar with both their kit and what they're doing.

In my experience as a working photographer in these situations it's the amateurs who delay things as they fanny around not knowing what they're doing or what their camera will do. In the time it takes them to decide, peer at the back of their screen and then focus and press the button we've all moved on...

Actually I probably didn't quite get what I was trying to say across well. I meant it's more the amatures or wanabe pros with the professional kit who are the problem (particularly the ones who spend ages trying to get a better shot than everyone else whilst blocking everyone else who is also trying to get a shot so they can get it published). I'm sure the serious pros are fast and professional in attitude like you say.

The ones who also tend to wear hi vis vests when not necessary, because it shows that they're Professionals.
